Custom Redwood Dining Room Table
I built this table using a 3.5″ thick redwood slab that the client had been storing in her yard. It was cut from felled tree near her house years ago and she had been drying it, waiting for the right moment to turn into a piece of furniture.
Redwood is soft and it was a challenge to find the right compromise between structural stability, weight and an aesthetic sense that the client and I were both satisfied with. In the end, I think I found it.
Redwood Dinning Room Table
Last week we began the fabrication of a custom dinning room table for a private client. She had a 4″ slab of redwood that she had wanted as a table top for several years. The slab was a bit narrow so we ripped it down the center and fabricated a steel section to widen the surface. The steel strip also serves as the main structural element that holds everything together.
We should have this job finished in another week or so.
